Project Description

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) retained NV Dynamics to evaluate the vibrations on both the floor and the hand-arm robot. The aim was to understand how these vibrations may impact the performance of a highly sensitive camera mounted on the robot’s fixture. The main sources of vibration were a diesel generator and a car driveaway on the ground floor, as well as pedestrian traffic at site.

Ultra-low frequency seismic grade vibration transducers were installed in orthogonal directions (X, Y & Z) at six designated locations. A set of four were mounted on 4 different locations on the floor, while the other two sets were mounted on robot base and on the fixture where the highly sensitive camera is expected to be mounted.

The transducers were connected to a multi-channel data acquisition system and then configured to record the vibration data throughout the task. The vibration acceleration data was processed and converted to vibration displacement (mm) to understand the physical disturbance experienced by the camera.
